[Fiction] Friday #30

November 23, 2007

[Fiction] Friday Challenge for November, 23 2007:

Reveal something about your character by telling about one of their Thanksgivings–it can be present, past, or even backstory (if your setting doesn’t include Thanksgiving, make it a similar family-oriented holiday).

Also, this week, when you post your Fiction Friday, please leave a suggestion for a future Fiction Friday Challenge.

Fiction Friday and NaNoWriMo:
For those who will be participating in NaNoWriMo, I encourage you to use the Fiction Friday prompt as the spark for your day’s quota. For the month of November I’ll keep the challenges vague enough that you should be able to use them for almost anything you’re working on.

How Fiction Friday works
Fiction Friday is easy to do.

  • Every Thursday, just check this page for this week’s theme or challenge.
  • Spend at least 5 minutes composing something original based on the theme or challenge.
  • But, remember, no editing. This is to inspire creativity not stifle it.
  • On Friday, simply post what you wrote to your own blog.
  • Then come back to Write Stuff and leave the link in the comment section below.

If you’re participating in the Write Stuff meme, please leave a link to your entry in the box below. (If you’re not participating, please don’t leave a link. People who aren’t playing will be removed). Please don’t forget to leave us a comment in addition to leaving a link!

Powered by… Mister Linky’s Magical Widgets.

If you’d like to participate further, just go visit some of the other links left by other participants, read what they wrote, and leave a comment. Just be sure that your comment is constructive—this is, after all, a meme to give us all a little writing practice.

Want more information? Want the code to drop into your own blog with no hassle? Visit the Fiction Friday page.

I’m not having any problems with it.

If it helps, I’m on a Mac using the Camino browser – perhaps there’s a problem viewing in the browser you’re using? Are you on XP, Vista, Linux, and are you using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari? Maybe others with the same set up are having a problem?

Oops! I noticed that my name and URL for my entry was still in the Mister Linky’s Magical Widgets box and when I tried to clear it, it re-entered my information again, sorry!

This is my very first Fiction Friday. I’m glad I participated because it helped bring my NaNo story in a direction I was hesitating to go in and I would not have done it this way if it hadn’t been for the prompt from this meme.
