[Fiction] Friday #101
[Fiction] Friday Challenge for April 24th, 2009:
During her first trip to Las Vegas, a woman experiences the luckiest night of her life. (It’s not from gambling).
(Don’t forget to leave your link in the Mr. Linky script below! I convert them into permanent links later which get picked up by Google and Technorati!)
How Fiction Friday works
Fiction Friday is easy to do.
-
Every Thursday, just check this page for this week’s theme or challenge.
-
Spend at least 5 minutes composing something original based on the theme or challenge.
-
But, remember, no editing. This is to inspire creativity not stifle it.
-
On Friday, simply post what you wrote to your own blog.
-
Then come back to Write Anything and leave the link in the comment section below.
If you’re participating in the Write Anything meme, please leave a link to your entry in the box below. (If you’re not participating, please don’t leave a link. People who aren’t playing will be removed). Please don’t forget to leave us a comment in addition to leaving a link!

Based on a very bad night I had in Vegas – my one and only night there, and they get their worst rain in a decade!
Posted for Annie, who is out of internet reach at the moment:

Here’s my entry. Had to reach for that one.

an interesting prompt, never been to vegas or gamble before but I have the impression that people go there and end up married, that’s what I wrote, I sort of twist it a bit

one question about comments – is it moderated so that it will show up at a later time after I submit it? I can never tell if my comment went through or not
– maybe there should be a note somewhere about that – I do want to make sure I actually wrote something cohesive…
This was a fun one to try. I have been really enjoying what everyone wrote.
Lissa,
I’m sorry about your comments going into moderation (they do the same thing with Benjamin’s comments, too). I do not have the comments set to moderation in general. For some reason, Askimet flags your comments as spam – I have no idea why it does this.
I did a little research – there is an option in the Askimet plug-in on wordpress.org blogs that will allow administrators to mark comments as “not spam” which trains Askimet to accept comments from that person in the future.
However, the Askimet that comes installed with wordpress.com blogs does not have that option (it has a “mark as spam” feature, but does not have a “do not mark as spam” feature – Grr). And Askimet can not be disabled on wordpress.com blogs, either.
Unless someone has a suggestion on what I can try to clear Lissa and Benjamin’s comments, then I don’t know what else to do other than approve them every time they are caught in the net.
I do check comments several times a day though, so hopefully, if it gets caught in the net, I can free it in a timely manner.
Hi gang.
First time submission for Fiction Friday. I’ll admit it did take me a bit longer than 5 mins, but hopefully you’ll like it. just took an idea and let it flow! I’ve never been to Vegas, so apologies for anything factually wrong (there probably aren’t oranges and lemons on the slot machines
I’m not sure if the link has uploaded properly on the Mister Linky site, so here it is again just in case.

Have a great Friday!
Welcome aboard, almckillop!
And mdbenoit, I’m glad you were challenged!
thanks Karen for clearing that up, it’s not a problem only that sometimes I impulsively click submit too soon and I hate leaving half-finish comments…
