From Wednesday Writer to Guest Writer

It’s time to simplify my schedule.

A couple weeks ago, I heard a knock on my door, unusual for 9:00 in the morning. I peeked out to see the research team from Pitt ready for filming. They probably thought I was losing my mind because I simply cracked the door open enough to allow my voice to sneak out, “Let me brush my teeth.”

A few days later, I arrived at the pediatrician’s office to find no one there. I was certain that I made a check-up appointment for Calla. I even remembered getting a confirmation call. I must have dreamed the call because the doctor’s office had no record of an appointment and there was no record of the call on my caller ID.

These events are merely two examples of the apparent chaos in my life. Something has to give. Autism is a very time-consuming condition, especially for families trying to help researchers pinpoint possible causes.

While I do not intend to abandon creative writing, I am having trouble keeping up with weekly posts. Some weeks I find myself spinning my brain, unable to make enough sense for a coherent sentence. Other weeks I have trouble remembering what day it is.

I’m going to switch gears so I can focus on creative writing using Write Anything as inspiration. I have so many wonderful memories of the past couple years with this blog and I will always be a part of the WA team.
