The theme for this week seems to be that the posts we intended to publish, didn’t work out. This post is no exception. Last week, I got bit by a nasty computer virus. And in the process of reformatting my computer I lost my drafts of the next four Tuesday columns. In fact I can’t even remember the topics.

Which started me wondering. If I can’t remember what I was going to write about, how helpful are these posts to you all. I check the stats, and we get a fair number of hits, but few comments that don’t come from a select few loyal readers.

Now my purpose here is not to chastise—I’m as guilty as many of you of reading blogs and leaving comments only occasionally—but to ask for your help.

I would certainly like to feel that my weekly rantings here are helpful, or at least well received.

So I ask you, what would you like to read about on Tuesdays? I won’t say I’m out of ideas, but I’m sure I speak for all the weekly writers here when I say that sometimes it’s a trial coming up with entertaining, helpful ideas. And sometimes it’s necessary to reload.

Please be as honest and as complete as you can. It will most certainly be appreciated.

I’ve been a loyal reader since I discovered this site. I like the writing prompts because they’re very basic and leave the rest to the imagination. However, I get a little demoralised reading about how everyone’s so prolific and successful… I still haven’t ever finished a story, and have been almost completely blocked since I left Oxford University 10 years ago! I’d like to read about the obstacles that confront real writers and how they have overcome them.
