I’m currently reading: The Pact by Jodi Picoult

Tell me: What are you currently reading? And what do you think of it so far? Would you recommend it? Why or why not?

I’m juggling several at the moment and wanting them all at once. Open Up and Bleed – biography of Iggy Pop, Tim Winton’s The Turning and I’ve just returned to We Need To Talk About Kevin, which I couldn’t finish the first time. Maybe second time lucky there.

Have tried my namesake in the form of “Possession” but couldn’t muster the courage past the first few pages. Must return to it at some time to understand what all the fuss is about.
Although, recently saw a list of 1000 Books To Read Before You Die. It makes me do two things. Firstly, ignore the list because I don’t like popular conformity. Secondly, it sets me a challenge that says, “Go on, I dare you to read all of these.”

Currently reading We Need to Talk About Kelvin by Marcus Chown. Would definitely recommend it – thought-provoking, entertaining and *gasp* educational without being boring!

I am juggling a few at the moment but focusing on The Dragonriders of Pern collection by Anne McCafrey. I am not normally a huge fan of fantasy fiction but these books have been recommended to me on more than one occasion so I thought I would give it a shot. I have to say that it takes a moment to get into since there are many words that were invented just for these stories. But once you begin to fall into the rhythm of her language it is pretty compelling.

I’m currently reading Fangland by John Marks. I’m intrigued by any takes on the Dracula myth, and at first I absolutely hated it. Things were so…un-interesting. The main character would get lost….and within a paragraph would find her way again. No suspense, no action. Nothing. Then it got interesting, and now I’m simply flying through it!

I’m currently reading “Boneshaker” by Cherie Priest. It’s a delightful blend of steampunk and zombies. It’s a very fun read.

I would recommend it to those who’ve never read any steampunk. It’s a good starter.

I am currently reading “The Angel’s Game” by Carlos Ruiz Zaf√≥n. I love the way this man can paint with words. He writes with the kind of tension that comes not from making me wonder what will “happen” next, but what will be said next–in any given moment. It’s the kind of book you want to read slowly or it might disappear too fast.

I’m reading Fahrenheit 451, but I’ll probably be done soon. I may read it again, though, because it has beautiful imagery and details. I have “Love’s Executioner” but I’m not sure I’m in the mood to read it just yet.
