I’m no scholar of Latin, but as near as I can figure that means Where are we going? And that seems like a pretty good question to sum up the next phase of Write Anything.
This will be my last post as the Tuesday columnist for Write Anything. It is my 231st post. And I’m the last of the original weekly writers to give up their post. But I am not leaving Write Anything. Instead, I’m doing what I’ve always done with this site…I’m seeing where we can take each other.
When Karen originally put out the call for writers for a new blog called Write Stuff, I volunteered on a whim—and truthfully, I didn’t expect her to accept. But she did. I’d never written for anything except my own blog, but I decided to go against my play-it-safe nature and give it a try.
Several years later, as several writers had moved on, and others had joined, I was approached by some of the other weekly writers about joining a group to create a new anthology of short stories. That venture has now led to two anthologies, and many friendships.
So a few months ago, when grumbling started behind the scenes that some of us were a tad burned out, I was again faced with a decision. As it became apparent that Write Anything would be changing, I had to decide—Would I take this opportunity to bow out and be proud of what I had contributed, or would I stick with it and see where else this crazy wave would take me?
So, while I won’t be writing my weekly column any longer, I’m sticking with Write Anything. From now on, I’ll be working behind the scenes. My position hasn’t been completely spelled out, but I’ll be taking on a new role of editing, and working with a host of new writers…
I can’t wait to see where their voices take us.
